Subsidies for cities and municipalities
Small, medium and large enterprises can receive subsidies for photovoltaic systems from several operational programmes. The support also covers energy storage systems
RES+ | Modernisation Fund
New renewable energy sources in the energy sector
RES+ No. 3/2022
The aim of the call is to support the implementation of projects that lead to a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the modernisation of energy systems and an increase in the share of renewable energy sources (RES) in final energy consumption.
Closing date for receipt of applications: 29 September 2023
Who can apply for subsidies:
- Municipalities in the territory of the Czech Republic with a maximum population of 3,000 as of 1 January 2022 according to the Czech Statistical Office
What are the supported activities:
- PV projects with one or more transfer points to DS/PS installed on buildings including shelters (e.g. for cars, construction equipment, material storage, etc.) owned by the applicant and located on the territory of the applicant's municipality
- Together with the support provided for the installation of PV plants, the following may be further supported:
- Battery storage systems for electricity generated
- Enforced investments in renovation of roof structures on which PV plants will be installed and in the modernisation of electrical installations in buildings with newly installed PV plants
- Introduction of energy management including control software and measurement and control elements for optimisation of energy production and consumption, project preparation and activities of professional technical and authorial supervision and OSH
Form and amount of support:
- The aid rate for the entire project is a maximum of 75 % of the total eligible expenditure
New renewable energy sources in the energy sector
RES+ No. 4/2022
The objective of the call is to support the implementation of projects that lead to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, the modernisation of energy systems and an increase in the share of renewable energy sources (hereinafter referred to as RES) in final energy consumption.
Closing date for receipt of applications: 29. 9. 2023
Who can apply for subsidies:
- Municipalities, self-governing urban districts and urban districts or contributory organisations established by them or legal entities wholly owned by them
What are the supported activities:
- Combined PV construction projects that include multiple sub-projects with more than one transmission point to DS/PS located in the territory of the applicant municipality and/or the founder or owner of the applicant if the applicant is a contributory organization established by the municipality or a legal entity owned by the municipality. In the case of statutory cities and the capital city of Prague on the territory of a self-governing municipal district or municipal borough
- Together with the support provided for the installation of PV power plants, the following may be further supported:
- Battery storage systems for electricity generated
- Hydrogen production systems by electrolysis of water (hereinafter referred to as electrolyser)
- Energy management systems, including control software and elements for optimising energy production and consumption and the activities of expert technical and authorial supervision and occupational health and safety
Form and amount of support:
- The amount of support is determined individually based on the ModFund calculator.
Subsidies for companies
Cities and municipalities can take advantage of the Modernization Fund of the State Environmental Protection Fund of the Czech Republic, namely subsidies for the construction of rooftop or ground-mounted PV plants, including energy storage systems or energy management systems.

Transition to cleaner energy sources (PV)
Photovoltaic systems with/without storage - Call I
The aim of the call is to support the implementation of projects that lead to an increase in the installed capacity of photovoltaic sources and a consequent increase in electricity production from renewable energy sources within the Czech Republic.
Subsidies can be used for both stand-alone photovoltaic power plant projects and power plants with energy storage (battery storage).
Closing date for receipt of applications: 30. 11. 2022
The supported activities are: construction of photovoltaic power plants (hereinafter PV power plants) on business buildings including shelters (e.g. for cars, construction equipment, material storage, etc.) with an installed capacity of 1 kWp to 1 MWp inclusive, with or without energy storage.
- Applications are open to small, medium and large enterprises, including companies in the capital city of Prague
- The programme can be used only for photovoltaics located on the roofs of buildings of companies
- Applications are significantly simplified - it is not necessary to provide an energy assessment, project documentation or to organise a tender for a supplier.
Form and amount of support:
- Aid intensity for PV: 35 %
- Aid intensity for battery system: 45-50 %
- Support is granted ex-post (i.e. after the project has been implemented)
