In November 2017, we launched a completely new battery storage system (BESS) to accumulate surplus energy from distribution systems and any power sources such as photovoltaic power plants or turbines. The system has a power of 1 megawatt, and the electrical energy stored in it is usable in the case of fluctuations in distribution systems or increased demand for energy.
The repository consists of one lithium-ion battery container from the Dutch company Alfen, a major supplier of energy solutions. Storage energy in the storage area reduces transmission loads in distribution system, eliminates critical network conditions and enables more efficient use of energy from unconventional sources. The system accumulates electricity in bulk to be available at a time when there is a lack of power in the grid and electricity needs to be released. Or even when the network is unstable or resists huge fluctuations. In such cases, the battery can power up in seconds.
the device is one of the first large-capacity storage battery systems in the Czech Republic. The AKU-BAT CZ Energy and Battery Accumulation Association says that large battery energy storage can begin to be built in around 20 places in the Czech Republic since the beginning of 2019.
